Carina Axelsson
Carina Axelsson, born 5 August 1968, is a former fashion model[2] and author/illustrator of three children's books.[3]
Career
Axelsson moved from California to Manhattan New York in order to pursue a modeling career.[4] This led to work with magazines such as Vogue and Marie Claire.[5] Later, she moved to Paris, where she studied sculpture and illustration.[4] Axelsson went on to create the fictional dragon character of Nigel, who featured in her children's books Nigel, Nigel in Hyde Park and Nigel Goes to France.
Personal life
Axelsson was born in Santa Cruz, California, to a Mexican-American mother and Swedish father.[4] She is the current partner of Gustav, Hereditary Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, nephew of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, and resides with him in Germany.[6]
